Hello

💖 Hi, I'm Lucy!

I'm an NHS-trained haematological biomedical scientist by background which is why I’m so passionate about making the latest scientific research and news accessible. I love exploring a wide range of topics, from cybernetics and dementia to sexual health and space exploration. I just truly believe in the transformative power of science.

I’m currently the Senior Scientific Content Producer at a global science publication and you can also check out my work on TikTok, Instagram, and my website, where I make science accessible for ✨everyone✨.

I’m open to speaking opportunities, TV appearances, and events! If you have any information or opportunities, feel free to email me at lucylawwrence@hotmail.com.

My Story

Where It All Started:
I won't give you the classic "'I've always wanted to be a Scientist" story, because quite frankly I didn't.

My family has always been a little crazy and we often found ourselves talking about our views of the scientific world. "Lucy, have you heard about stem cells?” “What do you about animal testing?” “Lucy, have you seen they can do this in the lab now?”

So I guess it'll come as no surprise that science, in all its forms, has always been a point of fascination for me.

From viruses to venereology, algedonics to astronomy, to me, the more obscure the topic the better.

My Background:

I studied Biomedical Science at University and became a Biomedical Scientist specialising in Haematology in an NHS laboratory. I then went on to lead a research communications and engagement team at a major UK charity.

Where I Am Now:
I now work as a Digital Scientific Content Producer at an international journal. It's such a privilege to be a science communicator for work and play.

On my days off, in between restoring antique furniture and having a normal life, you'll find me giving lectures at Universities and Schools around the UK on the importance of science and science communication. Incredibly I've helped to shape the Biomedical Sciences courses at Nottingham Trent University to include science communication elements which I am ridiculously proud of.

By night I am a science communicator in all of its pink neon formats. It's where I aim to help you discover your love for science and learn something along the way. I'm also working on a podcast so as soon as that comes along, you can be sure i'll share it with you somehow!

Why I Do It:

Science communication runs through my veins as strong as my blood, its probably SO cheesy but I really am just passionate about making science as accessible as possible for everyone.
